Hoogheemraadschap van Rijnland
With the realisation of solar meadows Alphen Noord and Alphen Kerk en Zanen, we made a nice contribution to the sustainable ambitions of Hoogheemraadschap van Rijnland. A total of 1,772 705 Wp solar panels were installed on the wastewater treatment plant sites. The 736 panels in Kerk en Zanen are good for an annual yield of 510,420 kWh and the 1,036 in Noord for 681,080 kWh.
Much of the energy needed to treat wastewater is now generated locally and sustainably, with the plants directly contributing to the energy transition in the region. At peak times, power is fed back into the grid.
In the construction of our solar meadows, sustainable energy goes hand in hand with biodiversity. A special seed mixture is sown under the panels, creating a flowery and ecologically valuable environment that stimulates insect life. This is how we combine technical innovation with a beautiful, green living environment.
