For an industrial company in Kallo (BE), we realise a large-scale battery solution fully equipped for trading on the energy market. With this investment, the client consciously opts for energy storage as an independent revenue model, separate from its own generation.
Six battery containers with a total storage capacity of 30 MWh will be installed at the main site, in combination with three medium-voltage skids. These medium-voltage skids provide a safe and stable connection between the battery containers and the electricity grid. They make it possible to send large amounts of energy into and out of the grid in a controlled manner, thus providing an essential link for large-scale market participation.
The system is fully grid-connected and is implemented without solar panels. The batteries charge energy from the grid at times of low prices and feed it back when market prices are high. This creates a structural and scalable earning model with energy.
The system is also designed in such a way that in the future it will be possible to use energy from the battery for the company’s own plants, should energy needs change. It also takes into account the possible realisation of a charging plaza on the site. In that scenario, the battery can act as a back-up and peak-shaving solution. Peak loads are smoothed out and available grid capacity is optimally utilised.
In addition to this installation, at a second location we are realising an additional energy storage solution of 8 MWh, consisting of 2 battery containers. This installation is also used for trading on the energy market and contributes to the overall efficiency and flexibility of the energy portfolio.
Completion of this project is scheduled for Q4 2026.
