Strandeiland is an island and future residential area on the IJmeer in Amsterdam East. We realised a solar panel installation of 4,264 panels on this new part of town. A first: this is the first, and only, solar park in the municipality of Amsterdam!
A special project because it was realised via Coöperatie GOED. They stand for generating green power together and sharing the proceeds. This ensures that Amsterdam residents will benefit from green electricity since the end of August 2025. The solar meadow fits perfectly within the sustainable vision for Strandeiland, where local and responsible energy use is central.
And the great thing is, sustainable energy and nature also go hand in hand here. Not an ordinary field of solar panels, but a carefully designed landscape that enhances biodiversity. There is room for flowers, bees and birds – a place bustling with life. Thus, it will not only be a source of clean energy, but also an area where nature gets plenty of space.
The installation is divided between two connections: a 2 MVA large-consumption connection and a 3x80A small-consumption connection. The solar park is Scope 12-certified after a successful inspection. Ready to generate enough power annually for around 1,000 Amsterdam households.
